BC-1 Pivoting Bookcase Hardware System

The BC-1 Pivoting Bookcase Hardware System provides a smart and stylish way to conceal a NEXT BED™ behind bespoke bookcases or display cabinets.

When closed, the installation looks just like a traditional built-in bookcase, with no obvious sign that an entire bed is hidden behind it! When the bed is needed, the bookcase pivots smoothly open to either side, revealing the NEXT BED™ concealed within the cabinet.

This makes the BC-1 an ideal solution for home offices, studies, libraries, craft rooms, living rooms or any other multifunctional spaces where both storage and occasional sleeping accommodation are required.

The pivoting bookcase provides you with attractive shelving and display areas without having to dedicate valuable living space to a bed.

The system can accommodate fully-loaded bookcases, allowing you to display books, ornaments and other items while keeping the bed discreetly hidden when it is not in use.

As the cabinetry is manufactured separately, your cabinetmaker or designer has the freedom to create a bespoke installation that complements your room, available space and preferred finish.

Heavy-Duty Pivoting Mechanism

At the heart of the BC-1 system are heavy-duty pivot hinges and supports. The bookcases swing smoothly to either side of the cabinet without requiring castors or additional floor-mounted support.

The all-steel construction incorporates brass bushings to support the weight of the bookcases and their contents, providing a strong and durable mechanism suitable for regular use.

Bespoke Cabinetry

The BC-1 supplies the specialist hardware required to operate the pivoting bookcases. The cabinetry can then be designed and manufactured by your chosen cabinetmaker or installer to suit the room and selected NEXT BED™ size.

Complete cutting lists, suggested cabinet designs and assembly instructions are available to support the manufacture and installation of the system.

This product is a hardware kit only.

No cabinetry, timber, shelving, wood panels, NEXT BED™ frame or mattress are included.

The cabinetry shown in the product images is for illustrative purposes only. All cabinetry must be designed, manufactured and installed separately by a suitably experienced cabinetmaker or installer.

Lead Time

For stocked items of wall bed mechanisms (without cabinetry or panelling), mattresses or spares, we normally dispatch same or next day for next day delivery to the UK mainland. Our courier delivers Monday to Friday (except bank holidays) between 8am-6pm. If you require delivery on a specific date, this can also be arranged through our sales team. Our sales team will contact you once your order has been placed to arrange delivery for a suitable date. If a product is showing as “available on backorder”, please contact us for an estimated lead time.
