Unlike timber-only systems, the Alpha Bed includes a structural steel bed frame, helping to take the guesswork out of wall bed manufacturing and assembly. The frame is designed to combine accurately with the spring-balanced lift mechanism, creating a strong and reliable wall bed system suitable for everyday use.

The Alpha Bed can be mounted vertically or horizontally, making it suitable for a wide range of room layouts and space-saving furniture projects.

How the System Works

The Alpha Bed uses a reliable SBLM spring-balanced lift mechanism, the same heavy-duty mechanism used across our Alpha and Beta Bed systems.

This mechanism allows the bed to open and close smoothly when correctly balanced. Adjustable spring tension allows the bed to be matched to the combined weight of the cabinet front panel, steel frame and mattress.

The steel frame includes stiffener sections which support the mattress, allow airflow and help prevent the front panel from bowing. The Trip-Free© foldaway leg system tucks neatly beneath the front panel when the bed is closed, helping to keep the floor area clear and giving the finished bed a clean appearance.

Mechanism Capacity

The standard Alpha Wall Bed Mechanism uses up to nine springs per side, giving a maximum recommended combined weight capacity of 100kg.

This combined weight includes:

• Cabinet door / front panel
• Steel bed frame
• Mattress

Optional extra-strength springs are available separately, increasing the recommended capacity up to 125kg. These are rarely required but can be useful for heavier bespoke installations.

Lead Time

For stocked items of wall bed mechanisms (without cabinetry or panelling), mattresses or spares, we normally dispatch same or next day for next day delivery to the UK mainland. Our courier delivers Monday to Friday (except bank holidays) between 8am-6pm. If you require delivery on a specific date, this can also be arranged through our sales team. Our sales team will contact you once your order has been placed to arrange delivery for a suitable date. If a product is showing as “available on backorder”, please contact us for an estimated lead time.
